[Music] i'm phyllis everly and i was married to bill everly who passed away in november of 2019. and this is a letter that he had presented to the church i thought i would share with you and we moved to this area and found first baptist church and we became members i can't think of the year but we moved down here in 83. so maybe 84 or 85 we found first baptist church to get some christian friends and get to know people and vince our son was in high school here and and my love for wanting to live on the lake [Music] i don't know exactly how to tell you about bail but i'd like to share something with you and at some time um he shared this with the church so excuse me for reading but i would like to read this i'm thankful and humbly grateful for how god has blessed me he forgave and he forgives me when i sin he helps me to keep going on when discouraged he bought me home safely from the korean war and i saw his miraculous power in the way he saved me from a near fatal plane crash [Music] he always blesses me when i obey him in regards to our financial resources
the biggest step we took was to make a serious commitment to tithe even when we didn't know how we were going to generate that income you know you he tells me and i know that you can read the scriptures you know what god says and promises in regard to finances but until you really mentally and physically commit yourself to follow god's plan you can't see the results of how god provides and the many ways he blesses you it's like reading all the diet books you find out how to lose weight but until you commit to follow the plan and sticking to the plan you'll never see the results you have to take the first leap of faith and continue to follow not just for an event a month or a year but as a permanent lifestyle we've seen how the multi-purpose building and the dedicated people who reach out to benefit the community when the location became available to purchase we phyllis and i were able to give above above our regular tithes to help obtain that property we saw how god worked us through many situations to be patient and willing to work on following his schedule start with tithing and let god show you it can be done [Music] then list all the ways you can give above your tithe give up a trip maybe or luxury item maybe just do some serious frugal budgeted planning if everyone would just talk together family members god would make you aware
of what you could pledge above your tithe and i challenge you find out how god provides for those who love him and follow his teachings dale everly my husband of 69 years [Music] you
