Good wow do you wish me nope oh hey [Music] yeah [Music] foreign [Music] sure what about this all right [Music] so all right well we are now all full and our hearts are receptive to the preaching of God's word amen and appreciate you guys being out here tonight we are glad to conclude tonight's session session with a study in second corinthians and dr rob phillips is going to be leading us through three marks of false teacher and so it is more important than ever to be discerning about what we take in into our spiritual diets there's a lot of really great resources out there there's all many more terrible resources out there and so how do you be how can you as a believer be discerning about that I also want to encourage you right out here there is a table with lots of resources that dr phillips has provided for us they are five dollars each or ten dollars for the apologist tool kit and a lot of really great things his latest one is about the baptist faith and message and as you guys know we are a southern

Baptist church we hold to the baptist faith message of 2000 and he goes into deep detail into all the different aspects of it I received a copy today and so I'm looking forward to going into it myself because we are unashamedly southern baptist and we believe that it's a wonderful vehicle for our faith and so now tonight we are gonna start out with a couple of songs in worship we are going to spend some time praying but for us I hope that tonight is a time of equipping for you to be discerning in the culture that we are in now what I would ask that you would do is just join me and bowing your heads and closing your eyes and don't go to sleep on me now I know that you got some full bellies with chicken and stuff but let's pray and then we will get going with our service and so God we do thank you so much for this great day that you've given to us we thank you for the good fellowship and the good food that we were able to enjoy and now allow us Lord with spiritual minds that are receptive and open Lord to come before you to feast upon your word God we know that's the only place that true and lasting sustenance can be found Lord the good food the baked beans the chicken the watermelon all that kind of stuff it's we're gonna be hungry tomorrow but Lord your word satisfies us completely and Lord help us to be satisfied completely in you we thank you Lord for what you're doing thank you so much for that session with Adam right now I pray for dr rob that you would just help him Lord to communicate effectively to us just the truth that is found in your word we love you and as we all stand together in worship we say amen did the music stop

Okay cool I can't hardly hear it back here but yeah please stand together as we sing together we're gonna sing all creatures of our God and king lift up your voice and with us sing all creatures of our God and king who lift up your voice and with us oh praise him hallelujah thou burning sun with golden beam thou silver moon with softer gleam oh praise him o praise him hallelujah let all things there creator bless and worship him in humbleness oh praise him hallelujah praise praise the father praise the son and praise the spirit free in one o praise him oh praise him hallelujah [Music] all the redeemed washed by his blood come and rejoice in his great love o praise him hallelujah Christ has defeated every sin cast all your burdens now on him oh praise him o praise him hallelujah [Music] so thee shall return in power to reign heaven and earth will join to say oh praise him hallelujah [Music] bring who shall fall on bended knee all creatures of our God and king oh praise him oh praise him hallelujah [Music] hallelujah oh praise him oh praise o praise him hallelujah [Music] hallelujah [Music] oh praise

Oh praise him hallelujah [Music] hallelujah [Music] hallelujah [Music] the next song we're going to sing together is he will hold me fast and it simply says no matter what comes to us in life when storms assail us when the tempter would prevail against us despite all of those things and regardless of all the trouble we face God's got us he will hold us fast so let's sing this together [Music] when I fear my faith will fail Christ will hold me fast when the tempter would prevail he will hold me fast I could never keep my hold through life's fearful path for my love is often cold he must hold me fast he will hold me fast for my Savior loves me so he will hold me fast [Music] those he saves are his delights Christ will hold me fast precious in his holy site he will hold me fast he'll not let my soul be lost his promises shall last but by him at such a cost he will hold me fast for my Savior loves me so he will hold me fast [Music] for my life he bled and died Christ will hold me fast justice has been satisfied he will hold me fast raised with him to endless life he will hold me fast till our faith is turned to sight when he comes at last he will hold me fast

For my Savior loves me so he will hold me fast for my Savior loves me so he will hold me fast [Music] you can be seated well good evening everyone I want to thank you so much for coming back this evening I know it's been a long day but I really have appreciated each of you and the opportunity to get to visit with several of you pastor thank you again for arranging for this day and for inviting Adam and me to be a part of it this morning we talked about what is Christian apologetics which he said is simply offering a reasonable defense of the Christian faith and doing it with gentleness and respect and oftentimes when we think about Christian apologetics we think about talking with people who are outside the realm of Christianity maybe atheists muslims hindus buddhists but what do we do when we encounter people who claim to be Christians and yet their beliefs run contrary to the word of God well that's what we're going to look at together this evening and we're going to use as our text 2 corinthians chapter 11. And if you got a copy of the apologetics weekend worksheet that was in your bulletin we're going to use the second portion of that on page three called three markers of false teachers and as you turn to second corinthians chapter 11 I want to share with you a story about a gentleman by the name of ferdinand waldo demara

Not a household name today but 60 years or so ago he was ferdinand waldo demara was known as the great imposter in fact he became so famous at pretending to be people he was not and pretending to be able to do things he was not qualified to do that hollywood produced a major motion picture by that same title starring tony curtis in 1961 but the real ferdinand waldo dimara burst onto the american scene really during world war ii and that is where he stole an army buddy's identity yes there was identity theft in the 1940s he stole his army buddy's identity and he went he faked his own death and he went awol and actually he found out he was pretty good at doing things like that and so he launched a nefarious career of pretending to be people he was really not and for a while he served as a youth psychologist he served as a sheriff's deputy and he served in a number of other professional roles but his claim to fame really came during the korean conflict when he served on a canadian naval vessel as a surgeon and demara actually successfully completed a number of surgeries until it was discovered that he wasn't qualified to clean a fish let alone operate on a human being well he was drummed out of the navy but he didn't stop he kept pretending to be people he was not in his last known gig I am not making this up was as a baptist minister well damara was famous

As an imposter and while his life was very interesting and in many respects tragic he really represents someone who was not comfortable with his own identity but he sought meaning in assuming the identity of others and it exposed the soft underbelly of american culture where if a person is attractive if a person is nice if a person is articulate if a can make promises to make your life better than it is now more often than not we will follow that person but tamara's story I think also exposes the soft underbelly of the american church and that is oftentimes if we see someone in a pulpit or on television or on social media or we hear someone on the radio who is attractive who is articulate who is persuasive and who promises to make our life better often times to our detriment we will follow that person well demara is not the first imposter who ever lived and false teachers in the church go way back to the earliest days of the church and that's what we find here in second corinthians chapter 11. Paul had established the church in corinth he spent about 18 months there and after 18 months being an itinerant evangelist an apostle he moved on but not long after the apostle Paul moved on other leaders came into the church and they managed to fairly quickly gain positions of authority and then as Paul began to discover these so-called super apostles really ended up being false apostles who taught false teachings and who created a great deal of difficulty in the church and so that is instructive for us tonight and we're going to look at second corinthians chapter 11 starting

With verse 1 and we're just going to read through verse 4. Second corinthians 11 verse 1 Paul writes I wish you would put up with a little foolishness from me that foolishness is Paul having to boast about his own authority as an apostle he says yes do put up with me for I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy because I have promised you in marriage to one husband to present a pure virgin to Christ but I fear that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning your minds may be seduced from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ verse 4 is key for if a person comes and preaches another Jesus whom we did not preach or you receive a different spirit which you had not received or a different Gospel which you had not accepted you put up with it splendidly so if you have your worksheets in front of you number one under three markers a false teacher should read in writing to the corinthians the apostle Paul gives us three markers for identifying false teachers they proclaim another Jesus a different spirit and a different Gospel and let's go on to number two as well Paul says these false teachers present themselves as super

Apostles in fact you can read twice in these chapters where they refer to themselves as super apostles yes Paul came in and established the church Paul is an apostle but we are super apostles we are more gifted than Paul we authoritarian than Paul we are more successful than Paul so they refer to themselves as super apostles and then number three we should not be surprised at the deceptive nature of false teachers because satan disguises himself satan disguises himself as an angel of light and so Paul came into corinth established the church there got them well grounded but then after he left these super apostles came in and as you read these chapters around us you can see that the arguments they made went something like this well yes Paul was an apostle but Paul by his own admission was not very eloquent in fact Paul admitted I'm not trained in public speaking but the super apostle said we are trained in public speaking we can speak very well we're far more eloquent than Paul therefore you need to listen to us also by his own admission Paul had suffered quite a bit if you can imagine all that Paul had experienced he was beaten many times perhaps sometimes within an inch of his life he was imprisoned he was stoned and left for dead outside the city he had been shipwrecked he had been harassed in a wide variety of ways I can imagine that Paul was not a very a person a person who was very easy on the eyes

Paul he may have had some missing teeth he probably had some scars he looked pretty rough Paul would not make it very far on Christian television today but the super apostles said look at us we're not only eloquent we're attractive and we're persuasive so while Paul may have been an apostle we're super apostles and you need to follow us Paul's response to that was that these super apostles were nothing more than false apostles disguising themselves as true apostles so what I want for us to do in the short time we have remaining tonight is for us to take these three markers that Paul has given us Jesus the Holy Spirit and the Gospel and I want for us to see how those three true Biblical markers can be used to identify false teachers in the church and as examples of that we are going to look at two very successful very popular counterfeit forms of Christianity tonight we're going to look at the watchtower Bible and track society the Jehovah's witnesses and we're going to look at the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints or the mormons we're going to see what they believe about Jesus the Holy Spirit and the Gospel and then we'll lay that alongside what the Bible teaches about the Jesus of Scripture the true Holy Spirit and Gospel I want you to hear my heart before we launch into that my point tonight is not to be unkind toward our Jehovah's witness or mormon friends not to be critical of them not to be unkind toward them these are precious people created in the image of God they are people for whom Christ died they are seeking the truth sincerely and they

Sincerely believe they have found the truth but in fact they've fallen victim to false teachers in the church so we're going to look at what they believe and do so with an understanding that we are not being unkind toward them but we are challenging biblically what they believe and teach so let's look at that first marker then and that is the marker of Jesus and so for number four on page three it says the Jesus of the Jehovah's witnesses was created michael the archangel michael the archangel then recreated as Jesus then recreated as an exalted michael the archangel so if you were to talk to your Jehovah's witness friend and ask that person if he or she believed in Jesus they would say yes we believe in Jesus and we love Jesus and I take that at face value I believe they're absolutely sincere when they say that but you have to ask the next question then who is Jesus and our Jehovah's witness friends would say something like this well we believe that Jesus is the first being that Jehovah created and Jehovah created him as michael the archangel and then through michael the archangel Jehovah created all other things then 2 000 years ago Jehovah took the life force of michael the archangel placed it into the womb of the virgin Mary and he became Jesus the man this is not an incarnation this is not God becoming flesh this is an angel exchanging his life for the life of a

Man and they believe Jesus was a man and only a man but then after living a good life Jesus died on a torture stake not on a cross because they believe that the cross is a pagan symbol imposed later on Christianity so he died on a torture stake and he died and that was the end of Jesus the man but three days later Jehovah took the life force of Jesus placed it into a spiritually resurrected and exalted michael the archangel and as michael the archangel returned to earth invisibly in 1914 and today is establishing his kingdom on earth so that is the Jesus of the watchtower Bible and track society well what about our lds or mormon friends if we ask them do you believe in Jesus and they will say yes we believe in Jesus and we love Jesus and I believe they're absolutely sincere when they say that but again we have to ask who is Jesus and here's how they might respond number five the Jesus of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints was the first person born into the pre-mortal spirit world via sexual relations between elohim e-l-o-h-I-m elohim and a heavenly mother so when we ask our mormon friends what they believe about Jesus they would say well look the truth of the matter is all of us every human being is eternal every one of us is uncreated so we all started at level ground with Jesus but what makes Jesus different is that Jesus is the first being to come out of being an disembodied intelligence and to take on a spirit body

In the pre-mortal spirit world through sexual relations between elohim the God of this world and a heavenly mother then Jesus was born of a virgin came to earth lived a perfect life died on the cross rose from the dead ascended into heaven and is coming back one day and so that's what our lds friends would tell us about Jesus now let me ask you in the case of the watchtower view of Jesus or the lds view of Jesus is that a Biblical view of the real Jesus no it's not well who is the real Jesus well number six the true Jesus that is the Jesus of Scripture is the eternal son of God the uncreated creator of all born of a virgin fully God that is fully divine and fully man that is fully human he died on the cross was buried and rose physically from the dead on the third day to conquer satan sin and death for us so what the Bible teaches that Jesus is the eternal son of God the second person of the triune godhead a co-equal and co-eternal with the father and with the Holy Spirit he's the creator and the sustainer of all things two thousand years ago he left the glory of heaven and came to earth he did not set aside his deity he set aside his privileged position at the father's right hand and added to that deity sinless humanity via the miracle of the virgin birth then as the God man Jesus lived a sinless life

Died on the cross bore my sins and your sins and paid that dead in full he was buried he rose physically from the dead on the third day he appeared to many people over a period of 40 days he ascended physically in heaven today he's seated at the right hand of the father as our mediator our intercessor and he's coming back personally physically visibly in power and great glory one day to fulfill all things that's the Jesus of the Bible all right well Paul gives us a second marker and that is he tells us about the spirit another spirit now in your english translation that word spirit there might be capitalized or it might not be there are some commentators who believe that Paul is using that word spirit the same way John does in first John 4 where it says beloved believe not every spirit don't believe every person that comes to you claiming divine authority and that might very well work here but other commentators believe it's a reference to the Holy Spirit and so certainly the Holy Spirit is a good marker for us and that's the one we'll pursue here so let's go back to our Jehovah's witness friend and say do you believe in the Holy Spirit and our Jehovah's friend witness friend would say something like what we read in number seven on page four the Holy Spirit of the watchtower is like electricity is like electricity and impersonal force Jehovah uses to accomplish his will so if you ask your Jehovah's witness friends if they believe in the Holy Spirit they will likely correct you and say we believe in Holy Spirit and if you have a copy of the new world translation the Jehovah's witness

Translation of the Bible every time you see the name Holy Spirit it is always lower cased it is never capitalized and that's because Jehovah's witnesses believe Holy Spirit is an impersonal force that Jehovah uses to accomplish his will well what about our lds friend what do they have to say well number eight the lds church distinguishes between the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit which they believe to be an impersonal force called the spirit of Christ and the holy ghost a God in the spirit realm waiting to take on a mortal body so our lds friends say we believe in both the Holy Spirit and the holy ghost but they're not the same the Holy Spirit is an impersonal force known as the spirit of Christ the holy ghost is a God small God who has been born into the pre-mortal spirit realm but he hasn't passed through into mortal probation yet and in fact he helps stay behind in the pre-mortal spirit world to help send the Holy Spirit that impersonal force into the world today so here we have the Jehovah's witness view of the Holy Spirit and in personal force we have our mormon friends who believe there's a difference between the Holy Spirit and the holy ghost one is a God small God the other is an impersonal force in either case is that view of the Holy Spirit biblically faithful no it's not what does the Bible teach about the Holy Spirit number nine the Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is the third person

The third person of the Trinity co-equal and co-eternal with the father and the son he is both personal and divine and so when we read in Scripture about the Holy Spirit we it becomes very clear that this Holy Spirit is in fact God he is a distinct person from the father and the son yet he is fully and equally divine in Genesis 1 2 the spirit of God hovered or brooded over the waters that hebrew word therefore hovered or brooded is used only one other place in the old testament it's used to describe the brooding of an eagle over her nest and so it implies there a creative force at work a creative being at work and throughout the old testament we see where the Holy Spirit speaks the Holy Spirit chooses the Holy Spirit commands the Holy Spirit creates the Holy Spirit empowers the Holy Spirit in selects and so we see the personality and the deity of the Holy Spirit in the old testament but especially when we get to the new testament we see that the Holy Spirit is the divine agent of the virgin birth the Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus at his baptism as an advocate one who comes alongside him and empowers him in his humanity to do what the Messiah was sent to do we see the spirit as one who raises Jesus from the dead on the third day we see Jesus promise to send the Holy Spirit after he ascends into heaven and the Holy Spirit does come on the day of pentecost and takes up a residence in the human spirit as we read through the new testament we see the Holy Spirit of speaking choosing empowering enabling authoring

The Holy Spirit can be lied to the Holy Spirit can be grieved and in every case what we see is the Holy Spirit who is both personal and divine co-equal and co-eternal with the father and the son that's the real Holy Spirit well Paul gives us one last marker and that is the marker of the Gospel so let's go back to our Jehovah's witness friends and number 10 on your worksheet Jehovah's witnesses believe the hope of everlasting life depends on a combination of faith and works a combination of faith and works which they would refer to as not works but exercising your faith at death a person goes into a state of soul sleep soul sleep awaiting resurrection only 144 000 spend eternity in heaven so according to the watchtower a person receives the hope of everlasting life not the security not the guarantee but the hope of everlasting life through a combination of faith and exercising your faith or works now that involves being baptized into the watchtower organization it means attending services at the kingdom hall it means being faithful and obedient to God's faithful and discreet slave which is the governing body in upstate new york and it is publishing that is going door to door and handing out literature and sharing your faith if you do all of these things and you do them faithfully then maybe just maybe there is hope of everlasting life but Jehovah's witnesses believe there are only 144

000 that actually make it into heaven this is the anointed class they're the only ones who are born again they're the only ones who can partake of the Lord's supper when they have their annual memorial meeting meal and upon physical death they are instantly spiritually resurrected and taken up to heaven to be with Jesus now according to different opinions there are maybe a few thousand of the 144 000 left but more likely than not the Jehovah's witness who rings your doorbell if you ask them are you of the anointed class would say no I'm not so what does that mean for those who will not see heaven well upon physical death they go into a state of soul sleep they call it annihilation they even call it hell the grave hell is mankind's common grave so they cease to exist their hope is that when Jesus does the battle of armageddon one day and after that they will be physically resurrected from the dead and they can enter the millennial kingdom but they must prove themselves faithful throughout that one thousand-year millennium if and only if they prove themselves faithful then they will be able to pass in to paradise on earth a recreated heaven and earth but if you ask your Jehovah's witness friend how secure are you in your faith how confident are you first of all that you're going to be physically resurrected from the dead and they will likely say well I think so I hope so as of today I'm I'm okay I'm going to be all right but then how confident are you that you're going to make it through the thousand years as a faithful servant of Jehovah and be brought into paradise on earth and again they'll say

I hope so I think so I'm exercising my faith and striving for that but I cannot say with absolute certainty that I have everlasting life well what about our lds friends what is the Gospel for them number 11 the lds church teaches two types of salvation number one is general general salvation which is simply resurrection and number two individual which results in eternity in one of three heavens the telestial the terrestrial and the celestial the ultimate goal for the mormon male is exaltation or godhood so if you talk to your mormon friends about the Gospel they will say well there's really two Gospels there's really two plants of salvation first of all there's general and that basically means resurrection and that's what Jesus lived and died and rose from the dead for was to bring back immortality to mankind and so just about everybody gets resurrected whether you're a mormon or not now there are a few sons of perdition really really evil people like mass murderers and if you're a mormon but you leave the mormon faith you will not be resurrected one day but everybody else gets resurrected and so the emphasis in the lds church is on that second type of salvation individual salvation and by their own admission this is totally of works this has nothing to do really with the grace of God or the mercy of God and so you attend weekly services at the local ward or the local stake you must tithe you must follow the moral code of the lds church a very

Strict moral code if you're a male in particular you're going to go on a two-year voluntary mission somewhere and you'll take you'll get baptized into the mormon church if you attain the priesthood you'll be able to do temple endowments and temple works being baptized for the dead on behalf of people who've died before who haven't had a chance to do that and so you do this throughout your entire life and you do it as hard as you can as faithfully as you can as consistently you can and then when you are resurrected one day how faithful you were in your life here on earth will determine which of the three heavens you will enter into now the lowest level of heaven is the telestial heaven that celestial kingdom is really for the world's wicked mormons really do not believe most people will go to hell those who are who leave the mormon church or very wicked people well but most people even if they're wicked will at least go to the telestial kingdom if you are a kind of a lukewarm maybe mormon or if you're a good southern baptist you'll probably make it into the terrestrial kingdom that second kingdom which is very good Jesus ministers to you there but your goal is to make it to the celestial kingdom and not only that but there are three levels in the celestial kingdom and you want to make it to the highest level of the celestial kingdom which is where if you're a mormon male you will become a God you'll become divine that's just what Jesus has done and showed us how to do so the goal is to reach the celestial kingdom the highest level of the celestial kingdom you'll call your wife will have a special name you'll call her special

Name she will be resurrected and you'll live forever for eternity in a family unit returning to heavenly father or elohim who sent us here to earth but if you ask your mormon friends how sure are you that you're going to make it to the celestial kingdom and above all how sure you're going to make it to the highest level of the celestial kingdom if they're honest they will say well I hope so I think so nobody can know with certainty but I'm trying and after I've done all that I can do I just have to rest on the grace of God so you see a common thread between the salvation of the watchtower and the salvation of the lds church they're really two common threads first common thread is salvation is partly if not totally of works salvation's up to me secondly common thread is that there is no absolute certainty of your eternal destiny so what does the Bible teach about the Gospel well number 12 the Bible teaches that salvation is a gift of God received by grace alone through faith in Christ alone salvation means we are forgiven of our sins and brought back into a right relationship with God Jesus is preparing a place for us in heaven and he is coming again for us one day those who reject Christ stand one day before the great white throne after which they are cast

Into hell so when we look at the true Gospel not the Gospel of the watchtower not the Gospel of the lds church but the Gospel of Scripture we can see that there is a good side and a bad side to the Gospel message the bad side is I'm a sinner and so are you David said I was conceived in sin and in iniquity my mother bore me we are sinners by nature and as a result we're sinners by choice and that sin separates us from God and if God didn't do something about it every one of us would step out into an eternity apart from him but now comes the good news of the Gospel God didn't leave us there he did something about it he sent his son born of a virgin who lived a perfect sinless life and he offered that life up on the cross and on the cross he took my sins and he took your sins and he became guilty of them and he paid the penalty for our sins receiving the full wrath of God he died he was buried but he rose physically from the dead on the third day to conquer satan sin and death for us and he ascended into heaven where he's preparing a place for us and you and I can be forgiven of our sins and brought back into a right relationship with God by the grace of God alone through faith in Christ alone that is truly good news and that is the Gospel that we proclaim let me just close with this I have a book on my bookshelf by the late dr walter martin and maybe you have it too it's called the kingdom of the cults and it's an excellent resource when we look at counterfeit forms of Christianity and false belief systems but in the introduction to that book walter martin tells a story

And it's a story of federal treasury agents I don't know anything about federal treasury agents other than what walter martin tells me but he said these are the people who really are the last line of defense for our money they work in our banks and our financial institutions and part of their job is to weed out counterfeit currency so these federal treasury agents go to an in-depth training class it used to be in washington dc it still might and they go there for a period of time and I'm reading through this introduction I'm thinking this is pretty cool I mean I can imagine all the different counterfeit currency that they pulled in off the streets and how unusual some of it must have looked you know you got the wrong president on a five dollar bill you got the wrong color ink the wrong size paper the wrong secretary of the treasure too many letters and numbers in the serial number no watermarks I mean I was just imagining all of the really cool things those federal treasury agents must see and then I read on and dr martin said you know during the vast majority of their two-week training class the federal treasury agents never handle counterfeit money they spend the entire time examining the real thing they know exactly how large bills are supposed to be they know how many times you can crumple it up and put it in your pocket and run it through the wash before it disintegrates they know who the secretaries of treasury are they know whose faces are supposed to be on there they know where the water marks are they know what colors the inks are they know every detail of every form of printed currency that the u.s treasury offers and the reason for that dr martin said is because when they go back to their financial institutions

And they encounter counterfeit money it won't matter what the counterfeit is they'll be able to identify it because they know the real thing dr martin says what a message that is for us I'll never be an expert on the lds church or the watchtower Bible and track society or islam or buddhism or hinduism but if I stay focused on the word of God and specifically what it teaches about who Jesus is who the spirit is what the Gospel is and the other truths of Scripture then when someone rings my doorbell it won't matter what counterfeit they're peddling I'll be able to see it as a counterfeit so I would encourage you as we close this time together to be faithful to the word of God and to the fellowship of those who study the word of God there are lots of counterfeits out there there are lots of false Jesus's false spirits and false Gospels and sometimes they're very difficult to discern but if we know what the Bible teaches we'll be able to identify the counterfeits when they come along so pastor cody would y'all join me in appreciating dr phillips and his three markers of a false future well now more than ever it's important for us to be discerning of the things that we take in and that we listen to and the teachers that we that we read and the folks that we have on our radios and things like that and so I hope that tonight was a blessing to you where you maybe feel a little bit more equipped to

Know the real thing so that you might be able to identify the false teachings when they come down the pike not if they come down the pike so let's pray and then don't forget to visit dr phillips table over there and just express your gratitude to him as well so Lord we just thank you so much for what you've done and just thank you that we do feel equipped to identify false teachings and that we know what apologetics is and even a little bit of the presuppositional stuff that we talked about earlier thank you for your word thank you that you have given us everything that we need required for life and godliness and so help us Lord to walk in your path that this week we might be able to stand firmly on the foundation that you have set forth in your word we thank you for your son Jesus Christ we thank you for the firm foundation that he is for our lives help us Lord to abide in you in Jesus name amen
