Ananias and Sapphira watched Barnabas give everything he had to the church and be honored for it. So they staged the same performance without paying the same price. What happens next is one of the most sobering moments in the book of Acts.

In this sermon from Acts 5:1-11, Pastor Cody walks through six truths this passage presses into us, that sin often starts small and secret, that private deception is never merely private, that God's judgment on hypocrisy is swift because He will not be mocked, and that the church itself is first named "church" in the very moment God defines what doesn't belong inside it.

This isn't a comfortable text, and we don't try to make it one. If you've ever pretended to be more spiritually mature than you are, faked generosity, or smiled at someone on Sunday while tearing them down the rest of the week, this sermon is for you.
