[Applause] [Music] I've been praying for people spiritually and well God answered some of my prayers and it made me think he does care you know for some of those people I've been I've been praying for years so to see you know him kind of answer my prayer to really show me he's listening and He does care and that is really something good to hear because and to see especially see that God knows what we're going through and that whatever we do we know that he can give us comfort and confidence I was just sitting there like worshiping and I just felt like the Holy Spirit was like Libby you need to stop and you need to pray for Millie and I looked over her and she's just kind of singing and so I was like I don't really know if I really need to but then I was like no like I really do need to so I reached over to Mina and was like Mina like can you just pray for Millie with me real quick I don't think that she is safe and so we like sit down and we start praying and not even like 5 seconds later Millie kind of reaches down and is like guys like I think I need I need to go down to the front like and so we like didn't even waste a second you know like we both like took both of our hands and we just we walked down to the front and like you know she was crying I was crying me was crying it was just the coolest experience and I just felt like God was telling me for the past two nights that I needed him in my life so then I was like well I just want him to be my life so when I saw them praying I just got down I was like guys can we go up there and then we went up there and I got I accepted Jesus as my Savior [Music] yeah so we had a pretty great week at Camp amen you know it's wonderful to see God at work and so we're just thankful to the Lord of what
He's been doing and you know it's it's fun you know it very nostalgic for me and glad the T are here with you guys we're celebrating what the Lord's doing in your family yeah so I want to take a moment and just thank the adult sponsor ERS that were able to go specifically I want to take time and thank Athena I think that she might be recovering because she cooked I mean she was just a superstar in there and also Chelsea butry she filled in and so I no joke it is it makes an eternal impact when you're involved in teens and in children's lives and your investment of your time of your resources U make those things possible and so thank you guys for being generous with our students and the time that we get to spend with them couple of different things that we have coming up of course this week is Vacation Bible School so who wants to see God work there amen woo we do need some help a simple way to serve is just by moving chairs after after service today so if you don't mind seeing Thomas he's going to tell us exactly where they need to go and Thomas this entire facility looks fantastic you and the team have done just an absolutely incredible job and don't forget that we have family night on Thursday night and so if you would make plans to come and be a part of that we'll have a lot of unchurch families people that don't know the Lord and the number one way that people come to know Christ is by relationships and people telling them about their need for a Savior and so we'd like to invite you to come and be a part of that on Thursday night we also have National Night Out that's coming up on August 1st and so we've got a ton of things going on there be sure to share that on Facebook invite your friends seriously come we've got
Blue Grass that's going to be taking place in the gym so if you're like it's hot okay don't let that be an excuse we'll have the gym okay and you guys can enjoy some good Blue Grass okay eat some great food visit a food truck see all the different things that are happening we want to get a as many people here as possible and so that way there's good connections with our First Responders and so thankful for all of them that are going to be there and also we have our Weare shoes ministry that's going to be taking place over the next I think that's the next week right we're going to be taking them this week and next week try to get them in as quickly as possible so if you want to get some shoes to donate to some of these kids that desperately need them before the school year starts be sure to go over there after service and grab one of those couple of different kind of pastoral things that were really cool and then we'll move into meet and greet time first thing is that yesterday I got a note in the mail and it was from a man in Texas and he had gotten a u a good deal a rebate on his AC unit and he keeps up with our ministry on online and he said you know I just felt really compelled to support the ministry at First Baptist Church in camton and so he took that rebate that he got he was like I don't I don't need it and he just sent it he didn't have you know any other address than that one and so he gave to that to our ministry because it's having a an impact not just in Missouri but in the United States and around the world and so you know I just want to share that with you because I think that's really good for you guys to hear that God is working even when we don't see his hand we know that's a quiet still and Sovereign hand and so we thank the Lord for that also I
Would I'm not preaching today by the way and Jim thank you so much for stepping in that Gap been praying for you brother but I would be remiss if I didn't say something about the events that happened yesterday of course with you know the attempted assassination of trump and so I started thinking about the Psalms and I was reading in Psalm chapter 2 and it says why do the Nations rage and the people's plot in vain the kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against his anointed saying let us burst their bonds apart and Cast Away their cords from us he who sits in the heavens laughs and the Lord holds them in derision that means he mocks them then he will speak to them in his wrath and terrify them in his Fury saying as for me I have set my king on Zion my Holy Hill I will tell of the decree the Lord said to me you are my son today I have begotten you ask of me and I'll make the Nations your heritage and the ends of the Earth your possession you shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a Potter's vessel now therefore oh Kings be wise be warned o rulers of the earth serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling kiss the son lest he be angry and you perish in the way for his wrath is quickly kindled blessed are all who take refuge in him the reason why that P passage came to my mind is obviously the Nations rage and when we see things that happen in our world one of the things that we can always take confidence in is that the Lord is in control if that bullet had gone an inch to the right it would have well an inch to the left it would have been far worse for us you know it just send us into chaos but even then God still would have been in control and we thank the Lord for that it's a safe place for the Christian to
Raise rest their head is in the fact that we have a God Who's intricately involved in our Lives who cares about us and oversees us and so I was reading in another book by aw pink it says the Lord God omnipotent reth his government is exercised over inanimate matter Over The Brute beasts over the children of men over Angels good and evil and over Satan himself no revolving world no shining of star no storm no creature moves no actions of men no errands of angels no Deeds of devil nothing in all the vast Universe can come to pass otherwise than God has eternally purposed here is a foundation of Faith here is a resting place for the intellect here is an anchor for the soul both sure and steadfast it is not blind fate unbridled evil man or devil but the Lord Almighty who is ruling the world ruling it according to his own good pleasure and for his eternal glory amen as Christians we can take confidence that regardless of what happens in November whoever our leader is regardless of the other things that are going to happen between here and Eternity we take full confidence that God is going to have his purpose and we celebrate that and we look forward to Christ returning where we don't have to worry about any of this anymore amen hey if you're glad to be here why don't you just take a moment find a friend shake their hand say welcome to First Baptist Church e [Music] know [Music] now [Music] I [Music] [Applause] I [Music] good morning church so good to see you all here this

Do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders but eat with defiled hands and he said to them well did Isaiah prophesy of you Hypocrites as it is written this people honors me with their lips but their heart is far from me in vain they do worship me teaching as doctrines the Commandments of men you leave the Commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men let's pray father thank you for your word thank you for the truth it contains the principles you've laid down inside it for our lives thank you for your Holy Spirit that touches our hearts using that word and changes our lives today Lord as we look in the mirror of your word we pray that we would not turn away and walk away unchanged that you would accomplish your desires in our hearts using your powerful and living Liv word and we thank you for what you're going to do in Jesus name amen Shalom I bring you greetings from my hometown of capernium on the Northern shore of the Sea of Galilee I'm from the sect of the separatist the purest the righteous ones is it's our job to look out for our oral tradition traditions and defend them with great Zeal these very Traditions lately have seemed to have been turned inside out they have been questioned and they've been threatened this threat first started a while back when a visiting Rabbi named Yeshua visited our shul our Gathering Place during his time in the speaking a man stood up in the back and screamed out in a Eerie voice what have you to do with us Jesus of Nazareth and then he said I know who you are the Holy One of God and the rabbi spoke just a few words
But with authority he said be quiet and come out of him and at those words the man fell to the ground began shaking and screaming and then there was silence the evil spirit had left that man we were shocked we were not ready for that what power power had been displayed who was this Rabbi and in which rabinal school was he trained the power that was displayed that day occurred on Shabbat our Sabbath and the News was hard to contain the news of that Sabbath violation reached all the way up to Jerusalem and the Sanhedrin assembled a delegation of scribes to send down to our town to investigate this religious concern now these scribes are lawyers their their job is to interpret the law to explain the law and establish the law for us this delegation their job was to monitor this Rabbi Yeshua so they followed him and while they were tailing them following him they noticed some of his followers harvesting Grain on Shabbat now this could not be overlooked this was a violation of Sabbath and we take our responsibilities as Defenders of our tradition very seriously against false teachers now this Rabbi Yeshua was unique to be sure his teaching was with authority and confidence but we were puzzled because we could not figure out if he had any retical training it was undeniable that his knowledge of the Torah the prophets in the writings were was impressive in fact some suggested that he be the Messiah Israel's Savior the one who followed our laws and traditions and the one who would fight Yahweh's battles for
Him but we had not seen this Yeshua win a single battle yet the Sanhedrin was were not convinced they had their doubts but his popularity was Rising it was growing and it was not going to be easy to confront this Rabbi but we are not known for giving up we very persistent and the strategy adopted was to keep an eye on his followers his disciples his Learners so we followed them watching waiting and listening and now we have them harvesting Grain on Shabbat is a violation of our tradition you can't honor Shabbat and labor by harvesting grain at the same time this is our chance so we ask the rabbi look why are they doing what is not lawful on Shabbat and Yeshua responded cryptically yet skillfully with what sounded like an outof context story about David he said have you never heard what David did when he was in need how he and his disciples or his companions when they became hungry they entered the house of Yahweh and they ate of the consecrated bread which was not allowed for anyone but the priests and he gave it to those that were with him Yeshua paused at this point as if to drive home the moral the point of his story the reason that he was telling this passage this Parable and then he looked at him and said Shabbat was made for man not man for Shabbat even so the son of man is master or Lord even over Shabbat first was he really trying to take what David had done wrong and justify what his disciples had done wrong come on we all know that David was wrong in what he did wasn't he and
Second how dare he blaspheme Yahweh by claiming that he is master of Shabbat this turns everything inside out I was taught that man serves Shabbat yes Yeshua is teaching Shabbat serves man this is turning everything inside out but the investigation didn't stop there not long after this we had our third interaction with Rabbi Yeshua it also occurred on Shabbat and this time we caught him red-handed it happened like this on Shabbat we were at our Sho that's our Gathering Place bite canet it was we had a minan which a minan requires us to have 10 Jewish men gathered together in order to have a quorum the Gabi our Warden of our Sho had asked Rabbi Yeshua to speak that Shabbat so Yeshua got up approached the front climbed up to the beima which was an elevated platform beneath the eternal light a light which is kept burning always which represents the presence of God and he was handled handed a scroll out of the Aron kodesh the holy Ark behind him now in our Sho men and women do not sit together the woman sit on this side in the courtyard of women the men sit in the courtyard of Israel over on this side and between them in all shoes is Mach some have a wall some have a curtain some have a stand a row of plants but there is a division between the courtyard of the women and the Israel in the back of the courtyard of Israel was a man with a withered hand Yeshua had noticed him in our delegation had noticed that Yeshua had noticed him we were waiting to see what he would
Do Yeshua looked at us he looked at the man and he said get up come forward the man walked forward down to in front of the beima and stood there Yeshua looked right at us and he asked is it lawful to do good or to do harm on shaat to Save a Life or to kill at his words the man who came forward began to shake and shift his weight from side to side what an impossible question that was for us to answer if we say yes it was all right to do good on Shabbat then he'll heal this man and violate the Sabbath if we say no it's not allowed on Shabbat we call into question the very goodness of Yahweh what an impossible question to answer we were thinking he must be possessed by beelo we decided amongst ourselves that no answer was better than yes or no so we remained quiet and this quietness made Yeshua either sad or angry he turned away from us and looked at the man and said stretch out your hand and the man's withered atrophied hand straightened out right before our eyes and became flexible again what could we do we could not deny that it happened we had just seen it happen with our own eyes but to remain there was to give approval of what he had done on the on Shabbat so in Mass we arose the entire delegation left and we went straight to the herodians to devise a plan on how we might destroy this false teacher that brings me to our current interaction with the rabbi this time he called in question what we call
Kasher the Torah tells us what we can and cannot eat the scribes and lawyers tell us and explain what we can and cannot do they explain what is in what is not koser earlier this day Rabbi Yeshua had taken a small amount of food and fed thousands of people and there were reportedly baskets of food left over when he was finished when we arrived Yeshua and his disciples were eating food from bask I don't know if it was the same baskets but they were eating food from baskets and here we have another violation of Shabbat eating with ceremonially un impure hands the Torah teaches us that Yahweh instructed Moses to make a Laver a basin and place it in front of the altar where the priests could wash their hands in that Basin before they offered sacrifices why do we need to purify our hands because we go into the market we bump into Gentiles in the market we pay with money and receive change that may or may not have been in the hands of a gentile person we touch meat carcasses of animals to bring home to eat and thereby we become defiled that is why we need to be ceremonially clean unwashed hands does not mean dirty hands unwashed hands means ceremonially purified hands the way we purify our hands we have to find Earth and or stone vessels of water and from within those someone has to help us and pour with our hands in this position water over our hands and with a fist we rub our hands to get them clean it's about two eggs worth of water water that is poured over the hands then we repeat the process with our hands pointed downward someone pours the same amount of water over our hands while we rub our hands together and that's the process of ceremonial
Purification failure to do this process of cleansing is considered to be a sin and any Rabbi who holds this in contempt is in danger of being EX communicated now our theology is based on three pillars the one I just mentioned about the priest the Theology of purification the priests washed their hands there is also in our culture a spirit named shta that while we sleep at night this spirit is said to sit on our hands and if we eat the next morning prior to ceremonially washing those hands we believe that we will get the cro get sick the third pillar that holds up this ceremonial handwashing is found in our song book in the 24th song In Our Song Book and that song says who may Ascend into the hill of the Lord who may enter his holy place he who has Clean Hands in a pure heart so based on these three principles We Believe ceremonial handwashing is critical you must approach Yahweh with ceremonially Clean Hands So with these pillars in mind we asked Yeshua why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders but eat their hand hands with ceremonially impure eat their food with hands to answer he quoted our prophet and said beautifully did Isaiah prophesy of you Hypocrites as it is written these people honor me with their lips but their heart is far from me Hypocrites did he just call us Hypocrites do we say one thing and do another Rabbi Yeshua he's questioning our assumptions he's questioning our values our Spiritual Authority he's questioning our world view he's asking us if we have Customs without Creed if we have practice without principles if we have rituals without reality if we have tradition without
Truth in fact he's asking does our Authority come from man or from Yahweh he wants to know does our life match our lips then he continued saying their worship is a farce for they teach man-made ideas as commands of Yahweh are my are my presuppositions man-made he's shaking my theological Foundation he's attacking my world view Yeshua continued with authority and said you skillfully sidestep Yahweh's law in order to hold on to your own Traditions questions were flooding in my mind at this point do I follow the opinions of the rabbis of the lawyers more than the words of Yahweh which value more my traditions or the Torah are the Torah the writings and the prophets The Authority or are my traditions The Authority when there's a conflict which wins this Rabbi tells us that our eating and our drinking our fasting three times a week our wearing of Flesh factories INF Fringe on our garments how we worship Yahweh he's telling us that is not important and with his hand he wipes away our tradition and then with the same finger of that hand points to our hearts as the issue Yeshua continued Moses gave you this law from Yahweh honor your father and mother and anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father and mother must be put to death but you say it's all right for people to say to their parents sorry I can't help you BEC for I have vowed to give to Yahweh what I would have given you in this way you let them disregard their needy parents and so you cancel the word of
God in order to hand down your traditions and this is only one example among many wait do we invalidate the word of God many times by our traditions he's turning things inside out by saying that our Traditions need to be compared to Yahweh's word in the Torah in the prophets and in writings then Rabbi turned to the Pharisees the lawyers the Jewish people and said all of you listen and try to understand it is not what goes into the body that defiles you are defiled by what comes out of your heart at this point Rabbi took his Learners his followers and they retired to a small home small enough that the large crowd outside could not go inside we were left outside discussing what he said I wandered over near to the house leaned up against the house right by the window and listened now I know I'm not proud of this but I listened and one of the disciples asked the rabbi to explain what he had said outside and he explained to them are you still so dull do you not understand nothing that enters into a man from the outside can defile him because it does not enter into his heart but into his stomach and then is eliminated was he saying that all foods are clean all foods were edible he continued what comes out of a man that is what defiles a man for from within from the heart of man come evil thoughts sexual immorality theft murder adultery greed wickedness debauchery deceit Envy arrogance and foolishness all of these
Things all of these evils come from within and these are what defile a man I wondered can my understanding be this mixed up our lawyers desire to explain Yahweh's word to us and I'm sure they have no evil intentions in trying to warp it I don't think they would mislead us they've taught us how to wash our hands wear our Flores to fast to care for our parents how to worship Yahweh blessed be his name could it be that I have all these inside out I'm more am I more worried about what goes into my stomach than what comes out of my heart I know what you're thinking how can this guy be so wrapped up on the outside stuff oh it's so easy and you don't even realize it's happening but don't get proud because I guarantee every one of you has things that you have not compared to Yahweh's word all of us right then I was haunted by the part of Scripture of Isaiah's scroll that Yeshua had quoted because this people draw near to me with their mouth honor me with their lips while their heart is far from far from me and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men these verses stop me in my tracks I had to honestly ask myself how much of what I believe was taught by men why do I believe things are right or wrong I guess I would say I believe them because they were taught to be by my culture by my parents by my rabbis by the lawyers by the other righteous ones leaning against that wall I started thinking of some of my positions praying before eating tradition or truth My Worship
Style tradition or truth my praise music style tradition or giving tradition or truth my Torah studies book studies topical studies tradition or truth my dancing my drinking my eating my attire my dress my entertainment my confrontations tradition or truth where does it come from these are there are so many topics that need to be brought under the light of Yahweh's truth I'm trembling as I walk away from their house deeply troubled do I need to rethink everything everything that I've learned do I need to measure my actions by what Yahweh says blessed be his name or by how the lawyers interpret what he says this is going to be a lot of work it'd be so much easier to just accept everything that I'm taught Rabbi yeshua's words have gotten into my head he says that the standard for our behavior is Yahweh's truth it is the measuring stick it is the lamp for our feet it is the light for our path I know Yahweh is never wrong yeshua's words went into my head but my head is a long way from my heart I don't know if they've sunk into my heart yet do I really believe that Yahweh's truth is more important than our Traditions should I believe that Yahweh's words are enough do I need the lawyer's commentary on these words Change Makes Me fearful it makes me anxious I run from change I don't know if my heart is ready for that because if I believe that to be true it will affect what my hands do if I know
It and I believe it then I must do it what happens when there's a difference between my tradition and Truth what do you say in situations like that how many topics do I have inside out my time with Rabbi Yeshua has really made me question what or who I follow maybe it would be good for all of us to agree to evaluate our Traditions our customs our beliefs and see how they line up with Yahweh's truth because none of us wants to be in inside out let's pray father thank you for the truth contained in your word and I pray that you would use this the verses that were shared and the principles that were located inside encourage people to read through this passage this week and let you deal with our hearts we thank you for who you are your truth your Holy Spirit who applies it and we trust that you will accomplish big things in our hearts this week in Jesus name [Music] amen Come Thou found of every blessing to my heart to sing thy Grace streams of Mer sing Ever ceasing call for songs of loud his praise teach me some melious s Su by flaming tongues above praise the Mountain Time fixed upon it Mountain of thy redeeming love here I raise my Neer hither by thy help I'm come and I hope by the my good pleasure save the to arrive at home Jesus s me with a stranger wondering from the fold of
God he to resue me from danger interpos his Precious [Music] Blood oh to gra how great a de daily I'm constrain to be let thy Grace Lord like a f bind my wondering heart to thee prone to wonder Lord I feel it prone to leave the God I love he My Heart Lord take and seal it seal it for thy courts above [Music] prone to wonder Lord I feel it prone to leave the God I love Here's My Heart Lord take and seal it SE it for cour of let's pray together dear Lord we thank you for this day that you've given to us for the many mercies that we've experienced just this morning waking up taking that next breath and Lord the joy that it is to come together to worship you with your people God I pray that you would keep us safe as we go from here and Lord that your name would forever ever beyond our tongues it's in Jesus name we pray amen e
